As a concrete step towards environmental conservation, MOANA Bike Tour and The Alana Malioboro, successfully organized the planting of 1000 Rhizophora mangrove trees at Samas Beach on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

The choice of Rhizophora mangroves is significant as these trees can produce up to five times more oxygen compared to other trees. Besides benefiting the air quality, these mangroves also serve as a habitat for marine life and protect the coastline from erosion.

The event ran smoothly and was met with enthusiastic support from the local community, influencers and participants. This positive response has encouraged the organizers to consider similar future initiatives.

In celebration of its 5th anniversary in 2024, MOANA Bike Tour expanded its impact by collaborating with partners such as Alana Malioboro, Dowa Bag, Kazu Ramen, and Roka ID. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to enhance coastal environmental quality and address climate change.

"Thank you to the collaborators, participants, residents, and everyone who helped make our dream of planting 1000 mangroves on the southern coast of Jogja a reality. This is a significant contribution to Samas Beach," said Anita Briana, Founder of MOANA Bike Tour.

The mangrove planting on July 28 was not only a commemoration of World Conservation Day but also a shared responsibility towards the environment and a commitment to maintaining the sustainability of coastal ecosystems.

The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including travel enthusiasts, influencers, community members and students, DIY Province. In total, around 60 participants joined, each planting approximately 10-15 trees. The planting was supported by the turtle conservation group Respirasi and local residents.

Joezar, General Manager of Alana Malioboro, expressed his company's commitment to environmental conservation: "We hope to contribute to coastal preservation. In the future, we aim to plant even more mangroves, perhaps 10,000 or 100,000 in Jogja."
